Pedicure

World’s Fairs are notorious for requiring a lot of walking. Dubai is no exception.
My feet are hurting after just two days at the Fair.
I stopped at the mall next door to my hotel for supper. (One of the reasons for picking this hotel was the abundant food choices. )
While walking past a beauty salon, I wondered if a pedicure might help.
I asked if they offered a men’s pedicure. The woman at the desk said that the salon next door did.
I went next door as directed but it was a traditional barbershop. I asked anyway. The gentleman said that “yes” they did.
He then walk next door to the same salon I had just tried.
A few minutes later, a woman followed him back to the barbershop carrying a box full of supplies.
We went into a small backroom were they had a traditional pedicure chair with an integrated foot bath.
I keep forgetting that I’m in a Muslim country. Men are definitely not allowed in a women’s beauty salon. But, apparently, women staff are allowed in a men’s salon.
Problem solved!
My feet feel better. We will see tomorrow if the pedicure helped.
If nothing else, at least now I have nicely trimmed toe nails.
Off to the Fair again tomorrow.
